Glasgow is certainly one of Scotland's more lively cities. It is also Scotland's largest city. People from Glasgow are known as Glaswegians, and have a strong scottish accent which some have difficulty understanding!
Situated in south west of scotland, Glasgow is a useful place to travel to other places in Scotland. You can catch a train from Glasgow to the famous Kyle of Lochalsh, and Edinburgh is only an hour away on the train. It's also possible to catch a direct train from Glasgow to London, and vica-versa.
There is actually an underground train network in Glasgow called the Clockwork Orange! It travels in a circular route around the city - get more information by calling +44 (0) 141 333 3708.
In 1990 Glasgow was recognised as 'European City of Culture' and evidence of this can be seen all around Glasgow. It has many museums, theatres and art galleries - as well as Europe's largest indoor play centre - so the children are easily taken care of! The city also hosts the Scottish Opera, Ballet, and National Orchestra.
Glasgow is also home to Bothwell Castle - one of the biggest 13th century castles in Scotland, situated on the River Clyde - well worth a visit!
Glasgow Science Centre is also worth seeing - this futuristic looking building on Pacific Quay features over 300 interactive exhibits as well as workshops, labs and much more. You could easily spend a whole day there. It even has an IMAX cinema!
Right in the centre of Glasgow you will find George Square, where there are many different statues from the ages including Robert Burns. This is a nice place to take a break and take in your amazing surroundings.
