With a population of 202,370 Aberdeen (often referred to as The Granite City) is the third largest city in Scotland. It is situated in North East Scotland on the rivers Don and Dee.

Aberdeen is a busy, cosmopolitan port with a busy town centre.

You'll find things for the children to do in the Boradwalk centre where there is a foam factory with an area for younger children. There are also trampolines, bowling and much more to be found there. Also for children the Satrosphere Family Science Centre and Doonies farm, both with activities for kids. Doonies farm is one if the biggest collections of rare farm animals in the whole of Scotland.

You'll also want to visit the Highlanders Museum. This is an enthralling display of British Army regiments throught the ages. It includes much original material from soldiers, and many real life size reproductions. Well worth a visit. It is not far from the city centre. Find out more information on 01224 311200.

If the weather is good, there is a large beach in Aberdeen, which is perfect for escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours. Aberdeen has many trails - perfect for the walker - with much to discover by donning your walking boots. Kirkhill forest, which is less than 5 kilometers from Aberdeen has many excellent walks.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous then the incredible Cairngorm mountain range is not far away either!
